HOW TO DO A 7-DAY SKIN FAST (SKIN “DETOX”)

A Skin Fast helps your skin recover from reactions — including irritations, hyperpigmentations (darkening), dryness, redness, itching, flaking, an acne breakout, or other symptoms — and return to a baseline state. The cause of a reaction is not always (or even frequently!) the last product applied. A product you’ve been using for a long time without a problem could actually have been causing an underlying irritation that was too subtle to notice, increasing your skin’s sensitivity gradually until another product (even one you’re not allergic to) was the final straw. The Skin Fast can help you and your doctor identify the trigger of your skin problem. Note: the more accurate way to identify what you are sensitive to is a patch test. If you have a history of sensitivity or stubborn skin problems, ask your doctor about a patch test (or, for hyperpigmentations, a photo-patch test).

Step 1: SKIN FAST

STOP Using ALL YourProducts For 7-10 Days

During this fasting phase, use only these few products:

• Essence Clark Wash for  Hair + Body

• Essence Skin-Saving Conditioner

• Essence Skin-Saving Toothpaste

• Know-It-Oil pure virgin coconut oil to cleanse your face (for added comfort, keep it in the refrigerator.)

Important: Stay out of the sun (even sunlight through windows). Do not use other products that we do not manufacture to keep skin in a controlled environment and lessen unknown factors.

Step 2: SLOWLY ADD...

...Remaining Products

• Do this Provisional Patch Test whenever you try anything new.

- For products washed off quickly like shampoos: apply a tiny dot on the underside of your wrist or elbow. If it reacts, wash off quickly with water. If no reaction occurs, leave on and observe skin for 1-3 minutes, then wash off.

- For creams and other products left on skin: follow the same steps, but if no reaction occurs, leave oproduct on skin for a few hours (up to 72 hours) and observe. If a reaction occurs, immediately wash off.

• Now do a 3-Day Introduction. Start with Red Better Cleansing Cream:

- Use one night. Observe skin over the next 3 days. If no reaction occurs, use 3 nights in a row.

- If no reaction occurs after 3 consecutive nights, use 2x-a-day for 3 straight days and nights. If there is still no reaction, continue use. Repeat these steps with your next VMV product. 

- If skin reacts, stop using the product and see your dermatologist for a patch test, or re-start the 7-Day Skin Fast from the beginning and when you get to this point, do this step with an alternative VMV product (contact us for help).

- Repeat process with each new or reintroduced product, one at a time, with at least 3 days in between, slowly observing your skin as you go.
